Access to Drinking Water: A Solution to a Need in “Flangadua”
In 2021, the NGO DZIDZO , with the support of ASSF, marked an important milestone in its commitment to the well-being of rural communities by building a well in the village of Flangadua, serving nearly 1,000 residents.
This project, far more than just a response to a vital need, symbolizes a decisive step toward equal access to essential resources, which is Goal 6 of the SDGs: clean water and sanitation.
In this village, facing difficulties in accessing drinking water, people had to walk to fetch water from a doubtful source. Thanks to the well, residents now have access to a clean and safe water point, improving not only hygiene and health but also children’s schooling (less chores, more time to learn).
This project helps reduce inequalities between rural and urban areas and strengthens the social fabric by encouraging collective and supportive resource management. Management is carried out by a water management committee set up with the support of the Regional Maritime Director of Village Hydraulics .
A great example of concrete action for dignity, peace, and community cohesion.
