Togo recorded its first positive case on March 5, 2020. Faced with the spread of cases across the country but especially in Lomé the capital, see figure 1, and in order to contain the virus, the Togolese government has taken urgent measures comprising several components. The flagship measures were the establishment of a curfew from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. in the cities with the partial closure of borders and the closure of schools, universities, places of worship and restaurants and bars.
These various measures have had enormous economic and social consequences, especially with the most vulnerable groups. The education sector was not spared either, the start of the school year usually scheduled for September in Togo has been seen postponed to November in order to allow parents to prepare economically and ensure the return to school of their children. Aware of the difficulty of the population facing the beginning classes, the DZIDZO association has decided to initiate an activity of free distribution of school kits to vulnerable populations in urban, peri-urban and rural areas in Togo.
