Following the success of the first phase of the Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) project in Gapé Kpodzi, the community expressed the need to continue the actions undertaken to make sustainable progress towards ending open defecation.
In this context, a second phase of the project was requested, extending interventions to four additional villages. The aim is to improve access to sanitation facilities and strengthen good hygiene practices, with technical and community support from the DZIDZO Association.
The official launch ceremony for this second phase was held on June 18, 2024, in Gapé Kpodzi. It was presided over by the Chief of the Gapé Kpodzi canton, in the presence of local authorities, community leaders, and members of the community mobilized for the event. This gathering reaffirmed the collective commitment of the beneficiary communities to achieving the project’s objectives.
After 14 months of implementation, the project officially closed on August 19, 2025, in the presence of the relevant authorities of the Zio district, marking a significant milestone in promoting community sanitation and the sustainable improvement of living conditions for the communities involved.
Through this initiative, the DZIDZO Association reaffirms its commitment to supporting communities in implementing sustainable water, hygiene, and sanitation solutions, fostering local ownership and community participation.
