Giving a Future to Young Mothers in Difficulties

In many African cultures, the role of young girls is still too often limited to household chores and domestic life. The dream of an independent future sometimes ends in adolescence. Some young women leave school prematurely, due to ignorance, social pressure, or simply a lack of resources. Isolated and without support, many embark on training without any structured future prospects.

To break this vicious cycle of poverty, in July 2021, Social Good and MPHMUN, through the association, committed to giving hope to 20 young women from disadvantaged backgrounds by supporting them in opening their own workshops.

In addition to material support, NGO DZIDZO offers human support: training in management, communication strategy, and peer-to-peer assistance. It is a whole ecosystem of female solidarity and community engagement that is gradually being built.

Today, 20 workshops have been opened: 10 sewing and embroidery workshops, 1 beautician workshop, and 9 hairdressing workshops.

The young people who have set up these workshops earn an average of nearly 5,000 FCFA per week, an amount they did not earn even after a month of working from home due to lack of opportunity, visibility, or management knowledge.

Among the beneficiaries, there are 19 young women and 1 young man, all aged between 20-25.
