Description of the Association

DZIDZO is an association registered under N° 019/MATDDT-SG-DLPAP-DOCA of 28/10/2022. It works in the fields of poverty alleviation, community development environmental protection, education and health. Its mission is to improve the social, health and economic living conditions of vulnerable populations through human, sustainable and participatory development.

Contexte du projet

Gapé Kpodzi is a village located 76 km from Lomé. According to a study carried out by the DZIDZO Association in 2021, entitled 'Feasibility study for the provision of aid to the populations of Gapé-Kpodzi', out of a representative population of 100 people, 34% wanted latrines, 26% a market, 20% electricity in the village and the remaining 20% the improvement of the road leading to the village. improvement of the village access road. After discussions with local authorities and village women's groups, and in view of the means at the association's disposal the need to build latrines in the village was identified as a priority. The DZIDZO Association, one of whose strategies is to work for and with the local population has opted for a method of supporting people wishing to build their own latrines, using the Community-Driven Total Sanitation (CDTS) method.

So in July 2022, the process of ensuring that every household had its own latrine began, with awareness-raising and triggering of the population. Following this, we had 40 heads of household registered to build their own latrine. With support from DZIDZO, the 40 households have built and are using their latrines.

In view of the success of the first phase of the project, and with the aim of moving towards total sanitation by putting an end to open defecation, DZIDZO has decided, with the support of its partners, to launch a second phase of the project. to launch a second phase of the project. For this second phase, DZIDZO once again wishes to work with a hygiene and sanitation technician with proven experience in experience in TBCA.

Job description

The consultant will be responsible for :

Qualifications, skills and experience required

The hygiene and sanitation technician must :

  • Introduce and establish a relationship of trust and facilitate contact with direct beneficiaries;
  • Reinforce the triggering that took place during the first phase of the project;
  • Continue to raise awareness and target the workforce available in the village and train them to plan actions and identify beneficiaries and construction sites;
  • Monitor material procurement and work start-up;
  • Manage latrine construction stages and produce quality results.
  • Produce regular reports for the DZIDZO Association administration.
  • Follow-up after project completion

Working conditions

The project will take place in Gapé Kpodzi. The technician will have a contract with DZIDZO for the duration of the project.

  • Hold a professional bachelor's or master's degree or equivalent in health science or hygiene and sanitation;
  • 2 years' experience in social and sanitation project management.
  • Previous experience of working with an association or NGO would be an asset.
